Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it important for me to provide the Stockton Chorale with information about my bequest or deferred gift?
The information is a tremendous benefit to the Chorale as it plans for the future. If the Chorale is aware of all components of their future funding, a plan can be developed to enhance both the short-term and the long-term objectives of the Chorale.
How will this be of benefit to me?
You are a valuable member of the Chorale family of donors, and we would like to recognize your commitment and show appreciation for your generosity. Your name will be on permanent display on the website and concert programs. You’ll be included as a member of the Chorale Endowment Society.
What benefit does the Chorale receive from finding out about my gift?
Gifts encourage gifts. News of your generosity will inspire other donors to make a similar commitment.
Will I have an input as to how my gift will be used?
Guidelines for each gift are outlined in a Memo of Understanding (MOU). Once we consult with you, Chorale staff will write an MOU and allows you to define the purpose, determine the amount of the award, establish eligibility requirements, and name the gift for over $10,000.
Is the information I provide kept confidential?
Yes! We honor your confidentiality. Upon receipt of your written authorization, we will then include your name as a member of the Chorale Endowment Society. You will make the decision on how much information is shared.
What if I change my mind?
Your bequest is revocable. We know your needs might change. Sharing information with the Chorale allows better planning for the future. We honor your loyalty to the Chorale and will continue to work with you to ensure your wishes are carried out.
What is an IRA Charitable Rollover?
Taxpayers age 70 ½ or over can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) of up to $100,000 from your IRA to the Stockton Chorale without incurring income tax on the withdrawal. You can direct your entire RMD to be transferred to the Stockton Chorale. Talk to your financial consultant about how you can support the Stockton Chorale using your IRA.
What is an endowment?
An endowment, or endowed fund, creates a lasting legacy by providing a continuous source of support for the purpose specified by the donor. The principal is maintained and invested in perpetuity. A percentage of the earnings on the endowment is returned annually to the Stockton Chorale for the purposes designated by the donor when they established their individual fund(s). Endowed funds benefit both current and future generations of audiences of the Stockton Chorale. A robust endowment, strategically invested, ensures that the Stockton Chorale has the capacity to grow and thrive, entertaining future generations of audiences!
What can I support?
Your gift can support specific choral programs and staff salaries (Adult ensembles or youth ensembles, directors, and accompanists), instrumentalists or soloists, professional recordings, enhancements to our music library, sound/PA equipment, technology upgrades, concert sponsorships, specific concerts or musical events, concerts featuring partnerships with other performing arts organizations, equipment upgrades (choral risers, concert stage shell, equipment trailer), scholarships, or flexible donations to meet the most pressing needs of the Stockton Chorale.
